Common Names: Red Rump Parakeet, Red Rump
Description: The Red-rumped Parrot (Psephotus haematonotus), also known variously as the Red-backed Parrot, Red-winged Parrot, Crimson-winged Parrot or Blood-winged Parrot, is a common bird of south-eastern Australia, particularly in the Murray-Darling Basin. Red-rumped Parrots are slim, elegant, moderate-sized parrots approximately 28cm (11in) in length. The male's plumage is a bright emerald-green with yellow underparts, a brick-red rump and blue highlights on the wings and upper back. The female's plumage is less vibrant, with pale olive underparts, dull green wings and back and blue-black wingtips. The characteristic red rump is only found in the male.
Size: The average size for this species is 10 inches (25cm).
General Care:These birds are fairly low maintence but provide bath water daily to keep feathers in good condition!
Diet: A good Red Rump diet consists of mixed canary seeds, millets, and a small amount of sunflower seeds. A lot of people use a Parakeet mix and add in some Sunflower seeds. They also seem to be fond of Cockatiel mix. Fresh water should be supplied at all times. As with all birds, fresh fruits and vegetables should also be offered on a daily basis.
Housing: They can be housed in breeding cages or aviaries. Red Rump Parakeets can tolerate low temperatures of 40 degrees if natualy aclimatized to it over a period of time but if they are suddenly removed for warmer temps and placed into cold climate they can become ill. I would suggest a minimum breeding cage space of 32 inches long x 20 inches high x 20 inches wide.
Song: Compared to most Parakeets, Red Rumps have a pleasant sounding call which could almost be considered a song. It is much softer than the sounds of Budgies (Parakeets) and can be very melodious and almost chime-like.
Breeding: Our experience with Red Rumps is that they are easy breeders and make good beginner birds for people just starting to breed Grass Parrakeets. They seem to prefer verticle nest boxes. We supply our Red Rumps with boxes 10in x 6in x 6in that have a concave bottom with a little aspen shavings so the eggs can not roll all over. When in breeding condition the male can be seen side stepping from one side of the perch to the other calling at the hen. Then he will raise to his full height, lean forward and fan his tail while bobbing his head. The male feeding the hen is a sure sign of eggs soon to come. After mating has taken place the hen will lay 4-6 eggs. For the most part the hen does the majority of the incubating while the male guards the nest. The male will relieve the hen to drink & eat or will feed her himself. Some males will at times incubate with the hen. The eggs hatch after 20-25 days of incubation and the babies are covered in a soft white down. Red Rumps can and will breed all year if allowed so be sure to give them sufficient rest especially during hotter and colder months. I would only breed those which are 1-5 years of age. Baby Red Rumps can be pulled out of the nest at 3 weeks old in order to hand feed them. If not pulled from the nest young birds will fledge at five weeks old and become independantly weaned at 7-8 weeks.
Pet Quality: Red Rumps if handfed and handled regularly can make excellent pets. In an aviary setting they are known to be aggressive and it's recommended that they are kept alone or in single pairs.

Lutino Lovebirds The lovely Lovebirds come in various varieties of shades and colors. Out of these varieties the lutino Lovebirds or the peach-faced Lovebirds are known to be the most beautiful among the lot of Lovebirds. Mydearvalentine offers a knowledgeable account about the lutino Lovebirds to guide you about them if you are planning to purchase lutino Lovebirds for your beloved this valentine day.
The Lutino Lovebird or the peach-faced lovebird is said by many to be the most beautiful of all lovebirds, with its golden yellow plumage. Lutino lovebird is one of the most popular mutations of Peach-Faced lovebird and it's followed closely by the beautiful Dutch Blue lovebird in popularity.
Both these birds have a wonderful and charming way of being active and playfully amusing. The Lutino Lovebird is easy to care for, and hand-raised Lutino Lovebird is an incredibly affectionate and fun companion. As they are quite intelligent and aware, even an untamed lovebird will watch it's caretaker with curiosity and readily interact.
The Lutino Lovebirds are very social and love to live in company of another lovebird. They need a lot of attention if kept single. Most are kept in pairs to satisfy their considerable need for constant companionship, mutual preening, and socialization. Peach-face lovebirds are the most popular variety of lovebirds. This lovebird variety also comes in colors like Dutch-Blue, Cinnamon, Lutino and Pied. In fact, if you are looking for lovebirds for the first time then you will mostly find peach faced Lovebirds in most aviaries and pet stores as they are most easy to breed in captivity.
Peach faced Lovebirds love laying their claws on soft toys etc. The peach-faced lovebirds don't take too much of space for their keeping and upbringing as given their size and the amount of exercise they need make small cages ideal for them. Peach-face lovebirds being curious in nature easily learn to undo the latch of the cages.

Common Names: Red Rump Parakeet, Red Rump Description: This species is mainly a dull green in hens. The male is is a darker green on the back with a bright green covering the head, chest and upper tail coverts. There is a blue suffusion on the mantle and primary wing coverts and a bright red rump on the male birds. I have seen hens with a few faint red feathers on the rump but normaly it molts out as they mature. The underbelly of both sexes is yellow but more pronounced on the male Red Rump Parakeets. The eyes are dark and the legs are flesh colored. Size: The average size for this species is 10 inches (25cm). Origin: Red Rump Parakeets originate from Southeastern Australia. Mutations/Sub-species: Red Rumps come in a variety of mutations. Take a look at the chart below. Red Rump Genetics Chart Mutation Genetic Inheritance Normal (Wild Type) Dominant Australian Cinnamon Sex-linked Recessive UK Cinnamon ( Pallid, Lime, Yellow & Dilute) Autosomal Recessive Australian Blue Autosomal Recessive UK Blue (Pastel Blue, Par Blue, Dilute Blue) Autosomal Recessive Australian Platinum multiple allemorph with lime-platinum-lutino Lutino Sex-linked Recessive Opaline Sex-linked Recessive Pied Autosomal Recessive Fallow Autosomal Recessive Sub-Species Many-coloured or Mulga Parakeet (Psephotus Varius)- In many ways like a Red Rump but more colorful.. Diet: A good Red Rump diet consist of mixed canary seeds, millets, and a small amount of sunflower seeds. A lot of people use a Parakeet mix and add in some Sunflower seeds. They also seem to be fond of Cockatiel mix. If you use a Cockatiel mix try to buy it without fillers such as maize or dog food as most cage birds won't eat these anyway. To condition our birds we coat the seed mixture with Wheat Germ Oil (1/2 tsp per pound of seed). It helps prevent egg binding and provides vitamins. Fresh water, cuttlebone, oyster shell and grit should be supplied at all times. We provide other supplements such as Petamine breeding formula (during breeding season) and Feather Up (while molting) in small treat cups. Lettuce, spinach, chickweed, peas, green beans, corn, spray millet, eggfood, soaked seed, apple, broccoli tops and carrot tops can also be offered on a regular basis. Be sure to wash all fruits & veggies before allowing birds to consume them! General Care: These birds are fairly low maintence but provide bath water daily to keep feathers in good condition! Compatibility: Red Rumps can be aggressive and are best kept alone or in single pairs. We breed our Red Rumps in tier-style box cages made of 1 inch x 1/2 inch welded wire. Do not house them in round cages. Song: Compared to most Parakeets, Red Rumps have a pleasant sounding call which could almost be considered a song. It is much softer than the sounds of Budgies (Parakeets) and can be very melodious and almost chime-like. If not pulled from the nest young birds will fledge at five weeks old and become independantly weaned at 7-8 weeks.

House Of Aris Mulga Parakeets Proven Pair $500.00 1-505-379-4672 1-505-298-0539 Will Ship any where in the USA at Buyers Expense
Mulga Parrot is perhaps best known for its stunning wing colors. These shy, but beautiful birds are growing in popularity among hobbyists. The Mulga Parrot is a medium sized parrot that is relatively quiet when compared with other similar sized parrots. They are well known for the soft calls. Their call consists of a soft whistle that is repeated rapidly three to four times in a row. These birds may be easily frightened by loud noises, and for this reason may not do well in an overly loud or active household. They are reported to enjoy baths, both water and dust. These birds may be kept in groups, but males may become aggressive during breeding season. For this reason, it may be best to separate them at this time. The average adult Mulga Parrot measures 10.8 inches (27centimeters) in length, making them a medium sized parrot. They are known for their colorful wings. Males and females can be distinguished by differences in their coloring. Males are a brilliant green overall with paler green coloring on their lower breast. Females are more of an olive green color overall with a brownish-green breast. The males have a distinct red patch on their crown and yellow foreheads. The females have a dull red patch on their crown and their foreheads are also a duller color, which is somewhat orangey-yellow. The males' thighs and abdomens are yellow; with patchy orangey-red markings Females have entirely green under-parts. Males have a dark grey bill, compared with the brownish-grey bill of the female. Both males and females have brown eyes at maturity. Immature Mulgas can be distinguished from adults by their muted colors; adult plumage is typically reached by 6 months of age. The Mulga Parrot can be found in a wide range within the interior of Southern Australia. Unlike some parrot species, the Mulga Parrot is not typically seen in flocks, rather they are seen individually, though they may congregate in smaller groups of family members or pairs to feed. In the wild this parrot forages most of its food, feeding on grass seeds, plants, and other plant seeds, berries, fruits, and green vegetables. Their name may be derived from the fact that they seem to enjoy seeds from the mulga plant (Acacia aneura). The Mulga Parrot is a hardy parrot, but it may not do well in wet, cold living conditions. Mulga Parrots have a great fondness for dust baths, and they generally like to be on the ground. For this reason, if they are kept in an outdoor aviary, they may require regular worming. In addition, their ground habits may also make them more predisposed to fungal infections. Regular cleaning of their aviaries and cages are a must. An outdoor aviary should be approximately 9x3x3 feet. These parrots really need to have enough room to fly so that they do not get overweight. If you are breeding, you should also include a nest box that is 6x6x16 inches. The entrance should be approximately 2 inches in diameter. Like most parrots, the Mulga will do well on a varied diet that may include formulated pellets, millet, as well as a healthy seed mixture. Sunflower and safflower seeds should only be fed in moderation, because these birds have a tendency to become obese. These birds also require greens such as spinach and dandelion greens. Fruits should also be given.

House of Aris Dilute,Pastel, Opaline ,Par-ino $200.00 Each If interested Please call 505-298-0539 or505-379-4672 Will Ship any where in the USA at Buyers Expense
MUTATIONS ROSELLA'S
Opaline (Red or Ruby) Sex-linked recessive This is a conspicuous and striking variety in which there is a variable spread of red psittacin displacing the yellow of the lower body and over the mantle, together with changes to the pattern of melanin markings. A feature common the the antipodean species expressing the opaline gene is the appearance of a broad whitish underwing stripe in adult males, matching that always present in hens.
Dilute ‘Pastel’ or ‘Isabel’ Recessive Melanin, both foreground and background, is greatly reduced in the feathers in a somewhat variable manner so that some specimens are noticeably lighter than others. Body tissue is little, if at all, affected and the eyes are normal. The markings are reduced to shades of grey, blues become lighter, and greens more yellow. The names Pastel and Isabel are to be discouraged (or depracated), since they do not adequately describe the gene action. Common in Europe but much less so in Australia.
Par-ino? both Recessive and Sex-linked A number of diluted forms have been noted which may turn out to be par-inos (remember that both recessive and sex-linked inos are, or have been, present in the Eastern).
